A Wonderful Tribute

Brunswick County Government and the Brunswick County Committee of the Virginia World War I and II Commission gathered to place a wreath on the War Memorial on Courthouse Square in Lawrenceville on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Annual Veterans Day Commemoration was cancelled for 2020. Brunswick County Government and the committee wanted to give thanks to all veterans for their service and sacrifice and look forward to the 2021 Veterans Day Commemoration by placing a wreath at the memorial. Christmas Lights

Lawrenceville Christmas Parade -Dec. 4, 2020

The Chamber will be holding its Christmas Parade on Friday, December 4, at 7:30 p.m.

We will celebrate the 300th Anniversary of Brunswick County – “Brunswick 2020, 300 Years of Evolution”

I’ve attached the registration form.

 

We’ve missed so many events and memories during 2020.  Let’s join together and give our community this small gift to celebrate the Christmas season.

Deadline for entry is November 27.

1)  Distinguished Service Award Nominations deadline is October 30 (must be postmarked if mailed)

2)  Santa Breakfast for December 5 has been canceled

3)  Halloween parade and trunk or treat for October 30 has been canceled

What the 300th Anniversary of Brunswick County Means to you? Essay Contest

The Brunswick County IDA Board of Directors are sponsoring an essay contest to Celebrate Brunswick County’s 300th Anniversary. The Board does not want COVID-19 to cast a shadow across this important celebration. The prize amounts will be 9-12th grade, $750 1st prize and $500 2nd prize. For 6-8th grade $750 1st prize and $500 2nd prize. All schools in Brunswick County will be able to participate with the cut-off date for submission being November 16th.

Steak O Rama Flier

Steak-O-Rama Plus is Sept. 12, 2020

The Brunswick-Mayfield Recreation Center Board of Directors will sponsor the 38th Annual Steak-O-Rama Plus on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the center, 35 Mayfield Street. Tickets are $20. The menu will be steak, chicken or fish, baked beans, cole slaw, roll and beverage. This year because of the pandemic there will be take out orders only and safety precautions will be followed.

The Board of Directors invites the public to attend and support this event. The Brunswick-Mayfield Recreation Center’s mission is the enhancement or elevation of our youth by providing a diversity of wholesome activities for them.

Excerpt: After much deliberation, the Taste of Brunswick Festival committee announced with heavy hearts that there will not be a Taste of Brunswick Festival this year due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19.

The committee and local officials have all agreed that, as an event that regularly attracts thousand of attendees, it is in the best interest of our community that we postpone until next year.
