Jeffrey Reed
Executive Director
As of May 1, 2025 Brunswick County Industrial Development Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey G. Reed as new Executive Director. Mr. Reed brings nearly 30 years of experience in Economic Development and Community Planning to the role.
Most recently, Mr. Reed served as Senior Vice President of Location Strategies and Operations at Evergreen Location Strategies based in Columbia, Maryland. He is well-known in Southern Virginia, having previously led Virginia’s Growth Alliance (VGA) for eight years as Executive Director. During his tenure, VGA advanced regional marketing, entrepreneurship, asset and leadership development, and established a revolving loan fund to support local businesses.
Mr. Reed previously managed projects for the Industrial Development Authority of Halifax County, Virginia and was at the forefront of the renaissance of the City of Danville. During his five years of service as the Project Manager/Interim Director/Assistant Director for the Danville Office of Economic Development in Virginia, he assisted with attracting more than 6,700 new jobs and over $700 million in new investment.
A graduate of Marshall University and a native of Glenville, West Virgina, Reed brings a deep-rooted passion for rural America, shaped by his upbringing on a family farm that’s been in his family for seven generations. Bitten by the wanderlust bug, Reed lives for new experiences and has traveled to 49 US States and over 40 Countries. He loves to explore heritage, history and local cultures and makes visiting national and state parks along with museums, and galleries a high priority. Never one to pass on a gastro experience, this foodie loves to eat and drink local – sampling street food to gourmet and microbreweries, wineries, and distilleries – if it’s local, this globetrotter wants to find it and explore it.
Brunswick County welcomes Mr. Reed’s vision, experience, and enthusiasm as it works to strengthen and diversify its local economy.
