5-2021 IDA Directors Report

Good Evening. I would like to thank the IDA Board and staff for your support during the recent passing of my sister your prayers were felt by my family.

On Saturday, Holistic Safe Space opened on Main Street. We welcome Mahatara to our community of new businesses.

On May 30th Pop’s will have their Grand Opening. Details to follow.

As is the case throughout our region, business continue to have a very hard time filling open positions. Please be patient when visiting our County Businesses. They are doing the best that they can during a very difficult time in our jobs market.

We continue to work with Lawrenceville to find new ways to improve the community. Mayor Scott Martin and Town Manager Everette Gibson continue to be a huge help and easy to work with.

Alfreda and I have met with Dominion Power and Birds Eye Solar to gather information on the positive benefits of Solar Energy to Brunswick County. They addressed some of our concerns and questions and they did a complete job of answering them. There is a zoning meeting going on right now just next door on that topic.

We continue to explore numerous economic development projects.

The St Paul’s task force continues to meet to explore methods to best enhance and support this important place in our community. We had a very good meeting with Delegate Tyler. She was open and supportive of our efforts.

Our lamppost in the back lot was damaged. We have filed the incident with insurance and are working with the Town of Lawrenceville to handle maintenance.

Melissa is now serving on the Taste of Brunswick committee and has changed hats from SPQ to BSQ.
